This morning Allison went to work with the first grade girl she is teaching how to read. Allison noticed that the girl's hair, usually very neat, looked horrible. She couldn't tell whether it was wet or what, so she asked the girl whether she had washed her hair that morning.
The girl replied, very simply and comprehensively, "No. I slept at my dad's."
That explains it all.
